Engagement Shoot

Its Saturday afternoon and I have a buzz for that evenings photoshoot. The 100% chance of rain that was forecast that day failed to show up and everything was go. Just as we were loading the car to leave for the short journey over to Shropshire I receive a call from Mai and Joe- “Are we still going to be going ahead with this photoshoot in this rain”. Oops.

It appears that whilst we were enjoying the sun, 10 miles down the M54 had torrential rain all day.

We decided to give it a shot, as long as it wasn’t pouring; we can handle a bit of Drizzle. On the ride over, the roads were dry up until around 3/4 of a mile from Iron Bridge. Perfect! The rain was that heavy my car wipers struggled to clear the water.

Fortunately we parked up and the trusty weather app said that rain will seize to fall in 16 minutes. YAY. And it stopped- shooting time.

Iron Bridge is a place personally close to Mai and Joe so they requested to have the engagement shoot there. I am glad they did as it was the perfect backdrop to the set of images. The greenery was out in full force and the moody sky added depth to images. Mai and Joe were at ease in front of the camera and had fun posing and working up the shot.

The series was captured using my 50mm prime 1.4 lens to give my images a softer focus and to throw out the background when needed. I loved how they turned out!

The weather worked in our favour, the cloud cover created the perfect diffused lighting scenario which worked magic as the sun sat just above the tree line.

Mai and Joe have booked one of our covid-19 wedding photography packages as their wedding falls just before the full easing of lockdown restrictions on June 21st. They have selected the beautiful Mill Barns wedding venue in Bridgenorth. We are excited to be photographing their big day on June 7th!
